Don’t worry, it’s alright, some people don’t know what a podcast is, and what it’s for.
In a nutshell, a podcast is an internet based radio show, that you can either stream on anything that connects to the internet and plays sound, or download for listening offline for later when you’re on the move.
Podcasts are a bit like the DIY music scene – get a few simple bits of kit, record it and then self-publish it to the world wide web.
Podcasts come in all manner of shapes and sizes – I’d wager if there’s something you’re into, no matter how niche, there’ll be a podcast about it. There’s music podcasts, sports podcasts, politics podcasts, comedy podcasts, cookery podcasts – there’s even podcasts about podcasts!
As for the content of this show, as we’ve mentioned previously, here’s what you can expect from The Toilet Circuit – On the first Thursday of every month we’ll be speaking to people involved with the heavy music scene at the turn of the century and beyond. It might be people from bands, label owners, promoters, or even fans. Basically people with a story to tell, not a product to sell.
Interviews are being set at the moment, but it’s a lot tougher than when these people were in bands. In those days, you could be reasonably confident that they’ll be in a specific place at a specific time, such is the nature of gigs. Nowadays, I’m faced with perplexing responses to interviews like “That’s the week of the Midlands conference, so it’s a no I’m afraid…”
